Shreveport - Marguerite Brooks Black, 92, passed away on March 21, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2019, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, Louisiana. Officiating will be Tim Coats. Marguerite was born on September 13, 1926, in West Monroe, LA, to Peter T. and Fannie Mae Brooks. She was proud to be a lifetime member of Shreve City Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Order of the Amaranth, Daughters of the Nile and the Social Order of the Beauceant. Marguerite enjoyed playing bingo and loved spending time with her bingo friends. She was affectionately known as "MeMother" to her family. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Black; son, Harold Taylor Black; great-grandson, Sean Dunn; and brother, Paul Taylor Brooks. Marguerite is survived by her daughter, Carol Sue Black; her grandchildren: Stephanie McKenzie and friend Neely Claassen, Dawn Dunn and husband Evan, and Taylor Black; along with three great-grandchildren: Kaitlynn McKenzie, Abby Dunn, and Annie Dunn; and daughter-in-law, Michele Black. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave, Shreveport, LA 71103.
