Margaret Ann Butler Simpson, 88, of Arcadia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025. Born on March 18, 1937, Margaret lived a life dedicated to her family, her community, and her faith. She was 88 years old at the time of her passing.
Margaret was the cherished daughter of Leila Roden Butler and Thomas Y. Butler. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, her brother Robert Y. Butler, and her devoted husband, Bobby Joe Simpson. Though the loss of these dear ones weighs heavily on our hearts, we find solace in the countless memories and the love that they shared.
Margaret is survived by her three sons, Joel Thomas Simpson, Barry Roden Simpson, and Robert Christopher Simpson, who, along with his wife Jaimie, will carry forward her legacy. Her spirit will also live on through her beloved grandchildren, Joseph Bryant Simpson, James Landon Simpson, and Ainsley Leann Simpson, who were the light of her life and whom she adored deeply.
Margaret had a deep love for working with children and shared that passion throughout her life. She served at Gibsland-Coleman Elementary, as well as in the nurseries of First Baptist Church and First Methodist Church. Her nurturing spirit touched many young lives over the years.
Margaret’s passions were as vibrant as the flowers she had planted in her yard. She found joy in reading, often escaping into the pages of a good book, and she made it a tradition to watch the Methodist Church service on television every Sunday, a testament to her unwavering faith.
Graveside service will be held on June 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Alabama Cemetery in Arcadia, Louisiana. Rev. Doug DeGraffenreid will officiate the service. Friends and family are invited to join together to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman who touched so many lives.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers at Bienville Medical Center in Arcadia, and Northern Louisiana Medical Center in Ruston. We would like to thank the compassionate staff at Cornerstone Specialty Hospital of West Monroe for their dedication and kindness that made her final days comfortable and filled with love.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Methodist Children’s Home in Ruston, Louisiana.
