Funeral services for Margaret Scott Shehee Cole, 64, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2026 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall St., Shreveport, Louisiana on Friday, February 27, 2026. Burial will be held at Forest Park Cemetery, St. Vincent. Officiating the service will be Father Michael Cannon.
Margaret was born on May 12, 1961 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William Peyton Shehee and Virginia Kilpatrick Shehee and passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and godmother, Emilie Anne Ostendorff. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 20 years, David Newton Cole; siblings, Ann Shane Shehee, Andrew “Andy” Shehee and fiancé, Elena Duke and Nell Shehee Kramer and husband, Graham; step-daughter, Heather Jones; niece and nephew, Cory Goodwin Salgado and Ryan Oliver Goodwin, their mother, Georgiana Gigi Shehee. Margaret had nine adoring godchildren whom she spoiled unconditionally and innumerable friends, always delighted by her quick wit, generosity, and kindness.
Margaret lived a life dedicated to service and her community. Most notably to the citizens of Northwest Louisiana was her care with grieving families at Rose- Neath Funeral Home. Margaret was known for always offering a calm hand and a gentle smile as families made difficult decisions for their lost loved ones. Also, Margaret worked with the Northwest Louisiana Foodbank for decades, securing donations and helping so many in need.
Recognized for her life of service, Margaret received such accolades as the Louisiana State Police’s Colonel Superintendents Award (post), and was titled Troop G Area Director with the Louisiana Trooper Foundation. She truly enjoyed her involvement with Troop G and being a founding member of Shoot for the Blue, an annual and successful fundraiser for LSP. She became especially close to Lieutenant Colonel Cordell Williams and his wife, Courtney and Lieutenant Hackley Willis and his wife, Jessica. Her time with the Louisiana State Police brought her a feeling of fulfillment and dedication to her community.
Margaret was a face familiar to the majority of Northwest Louisiana residents, but behind her endless efforts to help shape her community into the place she knew it could be, she found joy in the little things. A burgundy grape Icee mixed with a splash of Coca-Cola was one of her secret obsessions, along with her love for everything Saints, a good shopping trip to Dillards, a binge session of Downton Abbey with a hot cup of tea, or some time working on her latest needlepoint were all small ways that Margaret enjoyed her rare free time. She also was a devoted world citizen and loved nothing more than a trip to a new place, or a return to her favorite place- Paris.
Honoring Margaret as pallbearers will be Joe Casciola, Mark Crawford, Captain Nicholas Wayne Davison, John Pickens, Lamar Pugh, Cordell Williams, Harold Cole Wiley, and Kenneth Wiley. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Andy Shehee, Bob Allen, John Hensarling, John Fertitta, her Kilpatrick Life Insurance and Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Flower Shop and Cemeteries coworkers, Louisiana State Police Troop G and all residents of Louisiana.
Shannon Terry Wiley and Dr. Laura Valerius, Margaret’s lifelong and dearest friends, will grieve their loss as will her longtime executive assistant, Hannah Hickman. Margaret was a force of nature and that force brought much goodness into the world.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to The Northwest Louisiana Food Bank, P.O. Box 65150, Shreveport, LA 71136.
