Margaret Williams Lawler

Funeral services honoring the life of Margaret Williams Lawler will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 20, 2023 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will immediately take place after the service in Woodard-Walker Cemetery, on Pine Grove Church Road in Bienville Parish.

Margaret Williams Lawler passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 after a long battle with Parkinson's.  She was born June 30, 1936 in Bienville Parish to William H. and Dot C. Williams.

 She is preceded in death by her parents; her infant daughter, Rebecca Nell; her sister, Dorothy Grau and husband, Billy Earl; and her former husband, Edmond H. Lawler. 

She is survived by her children, Martha Lawler, Charles Lawler and wife, Catherine, Don Lawler, and Paul Lawler and wife, JoAnn; her grandchildren, Thomas Lawler, Patrick Lawler, Rosie Lawler DeVille  and husband, Matt, and Rebecca Lawler; and her niece and nephews, Lynn, John, and Buddy Grau.  She also had a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law JoAnn's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.

Margaret was school secretary at Blanchard Elementary for several years, where she always had warm hugs and words of encouragement for anyone who needed it. She will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity and will be missed by the many people whose lives she touched. The family is so grateful for the love and support and excellent care that she received from so many friends and caregivers over the years.  The family especially appreciates Cora Ford for her devotion to their mom and for being not only a caregiver but a loving friend.

Margaret loved to read.  She loved nature, her pets, needlework, and music -- and most of all her friends and family.  She had a strong faith that helped her through many difficult moments. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Grand Central Station PO Box 4777, New York, NY 10163-4777 -- or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
