Madge Lombardino, a beloved mother, friend, and vibrant spirit, gracefully departed this life on Monday, December 2, 2024, at the age of 92. Born on August 18, 1932, in Huxley, Texas, Madge's journey took her to Shreveport, Louisiana at the tender age of 16, where she began a life rich in love, service, and nurturing.
Madge’s career spanned various roles, including her work at Evan's Sporting Goods, where she met her lifelong friend Mary Kay Nezat. Later, she bravely took on the responsibilities of a credit manager for Morton Thikol. Yet, her most remarkable legacy was her unwavering commitment to her family. She tirelessly chauffeured her children to PTA events, ball games, CYO dances, and other events always ensuring they knew their mother was their biggest supporter.
An exceptional cook known for her culinary talents, Madge was the heart and soul of family gatherings. Sundays and holidays were filled with the aromas of her lovingly prepared meals, not only for her immediate family but often for her children’s college friends who found solace at her table during weekends and special occasions.
Madge’s life was one of resilience and grace, shaped by both her upbringing and her commitment to her family. From a young age, she became a caretaker, looking after her younger brother who faced cancer treatment. Her love for her family never wavered as she embraced the joys and challenges of motherhood.
Madge was not only loving and devoted, but she was also deeply social, enjoying gatherings for women’s domino games that were filled with laughter and camaraderie, dances at the Elks Club, and being an usher at the Strand Theatre. Her spiritual journey culminated in a significant conversion to Catholicism, embracing a broad-minded view of God’s acceptance that honored her Protestant upbringing. Madge's faith deepened as she became a Eucharistic Minister at St. Jude Catholic Church, where she devoted herself to serving others.
In marriage, Madge found a lifelong companion in her husband, Frank Lombardino, Jr. Though they later divorced, their close bond remained, as they continued to share in family events together, a testament to their mutual respect and love. Neither remarried, choosing instead to focus on their shared commitment to their family.
Madge Lombardino leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends, who will carry forth her spirit and teachings in their own lives. Though she has departed from this world, the impact of her kindness and nurturing will forever resonate in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
