Mack James Metoyer, 87, was born on March 4, 1936, to the late Cesaire Albert Metoyer and Celestine Roque Metoyer in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He joins his siblings, Annie Pearl, Louis, Felix, Mae, Mary Celestine, Wilson, Mary Delores, Ora Lee, Elsie, Delores, Bernard and Bernadine; son-in-law, Christopher Todd Williams; nephew, Louis Metoyer, Jr.; and niece, Beverly Jones in eternal rest.

Mack joined the Air Force and served four years. He met his beautiful wife, Seline Agatha Balthazar Metoyer and married her on October 14, 1961. Together they raised three loving children: Simone Williams, Margot Metoyer, and Claude Denis Metoyer (wife Sherri).

He was a dedicated member of Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans Catholic Church. He was a dedicated usher and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, Marion Council #3779, 4th degree.

Mack retired from Western Electric. Not one to sit around, he took various part time work at Enterprise, Wal-Mart, and the airport. He always had time to work and give back to his community. He won many awards and accolades for his loyalty, service, and volunteer work such as “Telephone Pioneer of the Year” and “Knight of the Month.” Another one of his side jobs was acting for the movies. He was involved in over 26 films as a supporting actor or extra such as “The Long Shots”, “Year One”, “Mad Money”, “Snitch” and several others. He loved working with the movies here in Shreveport.

Mack loved his family so much; his pride and joy was his grandson, Jean-Claude. His dedication and love to his family, his family of close friends since high school, and his family of nephews and nieces, especially his nephews that lived nearby will always be remembered.

The family of Mack wishes to express their deep appreciation for all the acts of kindness and sympathy shown to them during this time. The prayers, telephone calls, texts, visits, food and helping hands will all be remembered. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Gentiva Hospice. Your good care, compassion, and kindness gave them comfort during this difficult time. May God bless you and keep you.
