LTC Larry D. Anderson went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, April 15, 2026. Larry was born October 3, 1938 to Alvin and Dee Anderson in Shreveport. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Alvin Jr., Billy, and Bob Anderson.
A devoted husband and father, Larry is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Helen Louise, his son, Larry Anderson, Jr. and wife, Lois and his daughter Karen Anderson Lee and husband, Ricky. Larry, more affectionately known as PawPaw to the apples of his eye, is also survived by his grandchildren, Hunter Lee, Hannah Lee Wyckoff and husband, Wade and Savannah Lee and his great-grandchildren, Josephine and Indy Lee.
Larry met the love of his life, Helen Louise, when she was 13 and he was 16 and the two of them spent the rest of their lives loving and caring for one another and their family until the day he passed. Larry graduated from Fair Park High School in 1956. After high school, Larry went to Northwestern State College where he ran track for the Demons. After graduation from NSU and for the next 14 years, he was a branch manager for Saunders Truck Leasing and lived and worked in Shreveport, Meridian, MS and Houston, TX. After leaving Saunders, he spent 40 years working in the automotive industry in Shreveport including Red River Chevrolet, Powell Buick and Morgan Buick GMC, where he retired.
Larry loved his country and joined ROTC at Northwestern. After graduation, he continued his military service for the next 28 years in the Army Reserve where he obtained the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Larry was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church and a member of the Gulledge/Morgan Sunday School Class. Larry gave his life to the Lord and was baptized at Ingleside Baptist Church when he was 10 years old. He spent the rest of his 87 years loving the Lord and sharing his salvation with anyone he met. His love of Christ was shown in his daily walk and his bright smile shown to everyone.
Visitation will be April 21, 2026 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street held at 10:00 a.m. Following his visitation, a service celebrating his life will be in the Rose-Neath Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Dr. John Sullivan and Dr. Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will be at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Rd, Keithville, LA at a later date.
Larry loved catfish, BBQ ribs and was an LSU football fan. But he was an even bigger fan of his grandchildren’s many sports they played. PawPaw rarely missed a game cheering them on from the stands. We know that Larry is cheering for us here on earth along with his family that went on before him. We are comforted to know that through our salvation, we will see him again in Heaven.
