Louie Bess was raised in Heflin and in Minden, LA, and had fond memories of her childhood there. She met the love of her life and her future husband, Francis, while in high school in Heflin. She attended Louisiana Tech University, where she received a degree in education and went on to obtain a Master’s degree, as well.  She began her storied career as an educator at Oak Terrace Junior High School, where she taught English. She later taught at and became the Assistant Principal at Northwood High School and became one of the founding administrators at Donnie Bickham Middle School.  She retired from her career as an educator in 1996.

Louis Bess was an active member of Blanchard United Methodist Church, which later became North Pointe United Methodist Church. Upon moving to Bossier City, she became a member of First United Methodist Church of Bossier City, where she loved attending with her children. The United Methodist Church was a central part of both her childhood and her adult life.

Louie Bess is preceded in death by her husband and high school sweetheart, Francis Wyatt Myers; her parents, Louie Foster Pace and Nona Levins Pace; and sisters, Winona Pace Yeager, and Martha Ann Pace Browning Hollis.

Left to cherish the precious memories she helped create are her daughter, Fran Myers Sprankle and husband, Bryan; son, Matt Myers and wife, Sheri, and Mark Myers and wife, Debbie; six grandchildren, Adam, Claire, and Nathan Sprankle and Evan, Jarrett, and Sawyer Myers, who she loved and bragged on any chance she got.
