SHREVEPORT, LA - Memorial services celebrating the life of Lorraine June Byers, 58, will be held at 12 Noon, Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel. Pastor Jonathan Posey of Simple Church will be officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12 Noon at the funeral home.
Lorraine was born June 4, 1958 in Shreveport, to Frederick "Fred" Elwood Byers and Regina "Jean" Benz Byers and passed away suddenly October 31, 2016. Lorraine attended Fair Park High School and was a graduate of Woodlawn High School. Her love and care for people led to her career as a nurse for more than 30 years. Lorraine was known as a true caregiver and a great listener. Her personality drew strangers to her and they would tell her things they never felt comfortable telling anyone else. Lorraine had a huge, caring, loving and giving heart and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Even though they had been divorced for many years, Lorraine and the love of her life, Ambrose Ogburn, loved each other till the day they died. The greatest joy in her life were her 3 grandchildren, Riley, Emily, and Dylan, who love their grandma.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Jean Byers, and her ex-husband, Ambrose Ogburn. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jonathan "Boudreaux" Ambrose Ogburn and his girlfriend, Ellen; daughter, Valerie Ogburn Kahler and her husband, Casey; grandchildren, Jonathan Riley Ogburn, Emily Jayne Kahler, and Dylan Shalea Ogburn; sisters, Maureen Byers, Kathy Byers, and Peggy Byers, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Honoring Lorraine as Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Ainsworth, BJ James, Aaron Lolly, Scott McNeill, Steven Straughan, and Jason Garner.
