A graveside service for Loretta "Lo" Ginnings Ellis, 87, will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Restland Cemetery, 593 Restland Cemetery Rd., Waskom, Texas. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr. in Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Lee Gill.
Loretta was born on May 31, 1939 to Wilbur Ewell Ginnings and Sally Juanita Parker in Vivian, Louisiana, and passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026 in Shreveport.
Among Loretta’s favorite hobbies were traveling, planting flowers, and capturing life’s moments through photography. She especially loved preparing a memorable holiday feast—her famous dressing is still served today, always accompanied by stories of past gatherings and her cheerful insistence that it was “the best dressing ever.”
She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great‑grandchildren, holding a deep affection for the joy they brought into her life. Loretta attended school in Waskom, Texas, and later married the love of her life, Blanton Marcom Ellis. From their beautiful union came three children who were the center of their world.
Loretta is preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Ewelll Ginnings and Sally Juanita Parker; and her son, Mark Ginnings Ellis; sister, Judy Johnson; and brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Kamm. Left to cherish her memory is her son, James Patrick Ellis; and her daughter, Beverly Ellis Stark and her husband, John; sister, Sue Kamm; grandchildren, Destin Gibson and husband, Austin, Matt Young, Quentin Moon and Gavin Stark, Taylor Ellis, and Jilian Ellis; and great-grandchildren, Ava, Braxton, Riverlee, Baker, Waco, and Knox; and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Loretta was a beautiful soul who cared deeply for her family and friends. She gave a warm smile to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed, but we will forever love and cherish her memory.
Honoring Loretta as pallbearers will be Tim Young, Austin Gibson, Scott Chapman, Rick Ellis, Kirk Ellis, and Greg Thatcher.
