Lonnie Paul Atwood

Today we are celebrating the life of Lonnie Paul Atwood, who passed away on December 17, 2018 at 6:15 p.m. at the age of 67. He was born on September 23, 1951 in Shreveport, LA to Luther and Annie Atwood. He was the youngest of eight children and has two sisters, Joyce Binning and Mary Atwood, who are still surviving. He was a steel fabricator at Con-Fab for years and worked at many shops in the area. He was very proud of his work. He would show his family and friends things he built around town. He had tow previous marriages. The first marriage he had a son named Paul. He was adopted by his mother's current spouse. The second marriage he had a daughter named April. She was also adopted by her mother's current spouse. Lonnie married Martha Stanford Dyess on July 3, 1999 and were married for 19 years together. But she moved next door to him when she was six years old and he was nine years old. She fell in love with him when she was 12 years old. When they married, Martha had a daughter, Vanessa Dyess, from her previous marriage. He always treated her like his own. She has two sons, Sean and Seth Bynog, who he loved very much. Lonnie was retired and he enjoyed motorcycle riding, hunting, and fishing. One of his favorite things to do was to work in his garden. He would share his produce with his family and friends. He taught his grandsons, Sean and Seth, all of his gardening tricks. They plan to have a garden in honor of their Pawpaw Lonnie this year. Since he has been gone, I miss the little things he did. Everyday he would ask me, "Baby, have I told you that I love you today?" I love and miss you. He also loved the Lord Jesus too. He talked about it a lot before he passed away. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Rose-Neath Southside.
