Lola Dufour Caldwell Henderson passed away on October 14, 2025, at the remarkable age of 97. She was born in Alexandria, Louisiana, to Minnie and Philip Dufour, and later loved by her stepfather, Albert or better known as “Mac.”
Lola will be remembered for her tenacity, generosity, stubborn streak, and deep love of country. She had a fierce devotion to family, a no questions asked hospitality, and an open door for anyone who needed a place to land – even if she’d tell you what to do when you landed there. Her faith and church were very important to her, and she probably prayed for anyone reading this each night.
After moving to Shreveport as a child, Lola married Jack Caldwell in 1945. Her beloved daughter Jackie arrived in 1947. Lola worked for many years at the post office, where she took her duties — and zip codes — very seriously. She loved her work and took pride in her decades there.
After Jack’s death, Lola married Jim Henderson, and together they shared a love of road trips, adopting stray dogs, and dancing.
Lola was known for her fierce loyalty and her generous table. Sunday dinners, Christmas Eve gatherings, and quiet afternoons watching sunsets over Cross Lake are among the family’s fond memories. Lola also researched her genealogy, caring for her family from ancestors through future descendants.
This bio would not be complete without an honorable mention to all of Lola’s dogs that have become the subject of legends in the family stories. She loved them dearly.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to her Lakeview church family, to all who visited her over the past year and a half following her stroke, and to the caring staff at The Oaks.
Lola is predeceased by her parents; husband. Jack; husband, Jim; siblings, Joette and her husband, Dean and Leldon and his wife, Betty, and other friends and family. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie and son-in-law, Earle; granddaughters, Kelly (Jon), Peggy, and Katy (Joseph); niece, Kerri (Joe); six great-grandsons; eleven great-great-grandchildren plus many other nieces and kin. She is remembered with affection.
The memorial service date will be announced soon. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, where Lola was a regular donor.
