Out of darkness, into light... Lisa Kay Berridge Pearson peacefully passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 after a long hard fight with cancer. She valued family to her core, and will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and loyal friend.
Throughout her life, Lisa was always very active. She loved horses and the joy midnight rides brought to her spirit. Along with her lifelong friend, Kelly Whitten Oden, Lisa nourished her zest for life through attending Mardi Gras parades, especially the Highland parade and the Barkus and Meow Jazz Brunch. Other favorite activities included attending Shreveport Regional Art Council's bi-annual Halloween party and any live music featuring Dirtfoot, Louisiana's Gypsy Punk Country Grumble band.
Lisa was a devout Christian whose strong faith was the only safety net she needed. She was a devoted fan of Christian author, Joyce Meyer, who she credited with helping her to release her faith in God. "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)
The light of her life was her daughter, Chyanne. Next, Lisa was thrilled to join the "Grandma Club" when her grandson, Jacob, was born. She was delighted when Jacob named her "Sassy!"
Throughout her life, Lisa made and cherished many friends wherever she lived. Her friends referred to Lisa as a gentle, free spirit who was happiest riding the many trails of her High Mesquite Ranch or visiting the beaches of Grand Isle, Louisiana. Most importantly, her friends received the same love and devotion from Lisa that they shared with her. Chyanne and Jacob will be forever grateful to those many friends.
Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Edward E. Berridge; mother, Patricia Parker; and brother, Michael Berridge. She is survived by her daughter, Chyanne Bega and husband, Paul; grandson, Jacob; brother, Jim Berridge and wife, Roxanne; and sister, Georgia McCotter and husband, Kevin.
Lisa's family would like to thank the supportive staff of Regional Hospice Care Group of NW LA. And extend a very special thank you to Shari, Joanne, Georgia, Kate and Hospice Chaplain, Randy Goudeau for their compassion and loving care during the final months of Lisa's life.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. It will be held at First Christian Church, 2205 Shed Road in Bossier City, LA and is open to family and friends. Please join the family for food and fellowship immediately after the service. Officiating the service will be Hospice Chaplain Randy Goudeau.
"You see I've been through the desert
On a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert, you can remember your name
Cause there ain't no one for to give you no pain."
