Linda Sue Martin Bower

Linda Sue Martin Bower, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and Mimi, passed away on August 20, 2025, at the age of 66.

Born on January 5, 1959, in Texarkana, Arkansas, Linda devoted her life to caring for others. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern University in Shreveport, Louisiana, and went on to serve her community with compassion and skill for 31 years. As a dedicated Cardiac and Dialysis nurse, Linda touched countless lives with her healing hands, generous heart, and unwavering commitment to her patients.

Linda had a zest for life that shined in everything she did. She loved all things pink, sang along to Miranda Lambert, and found joy in collecting all things “Grinch.” Her creativity shone through in all the crafts she created. An accomplished baker, Linda was known for her fan-favorite ice box pies and her famous pumpkin bread, which brought warmth and delight to every table.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband, Douglas A. Bower, and her cherished grandson, Waylon J. Hillard, along with her beloved grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

Linda is survived by her loving parents, Clovis and Janet Martin; her siblings, Alan Martin (Elli) with their children Alan-Michael and Jasmine, and Mary-Catherine Ruben-Clapper (Scott) with their children Martin and Seren; her sons, Daniel Blackmon and Jonathon Blackmon (Jessica); and her adored grandchildren, Kelley, Beaux, Maci, and Iris, who knew her as their proud and devoted Mimi. She is mourned by Kristy Mallet and Brenda Mallet as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. Finally, she will forever be dearly loved and missed by her fur baby, Maddie.

Per Linda’s wishes, there will not be a memorial service. Her family encourages those who wish to honor her life to consider donating to the Hope House in Shreveport, Louisiana, where Linda faithfully donated items to support the local homeless population. In lieu of flowers, donations made in her honor will continue her legacy of compassion and generosity. The Hope House
