It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Linda Ann Preston, 78, of Benton, Louisiana, on Saturday, November 9, 2024, after a lengthy illness.
Linda was born on November 22, 1945, in Ruston, Louisiana to Travis (Jack) Camp and Annie T. Fallin.
In 1973, Linda met the love of her life and beloved husband John Preston of 50 years at Broadmoor YMCA when she decided to enroll in a Judo class. John was her instructor. Linda and John have 4 children, Lori Preston, Tina Preston, Deborah Michele Preston, and Bobby Preston.
In 1999, Linda retired from Lucent Technologies after 30 years of employment and spent her time crafting, shopping, dancing, music concerts, traveling, and spending time with her family. She was a brown belt in Judo. She was also a member of the Optimist Club of Shreveport and was past President and editor of the Optimist Club newsletter, The Optimate.
Linda was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and community. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of Red River Baptist Church where she was a children’s church leader.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Travis “Jack” Camp and Annie T. Camp, CMSgt., U.S. Air Force, Ret.; brother, Bobby Jack Camp, and her sisters, Sandra Kay and Marilyn Anita Camp. She is survived by her husband, John Preston; daughters, Lori Preston, Tina Preston, Deborah Michele Preston, and her son, Bobby Preston; 10 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Dr., Bossier City, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Memorial Park Cemetery in Haughton, Louisiana. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating the service will be Reverend Mike Palmer, from the Red River Baptist Church and Reverend Albert Dyer with the Simple Church.
