HOMER, LA: Funeral services were held for Linda Roe Murray, 65, at the New Beginnings Baptist Church, 7200 Junction Highway, El Dorado, AR on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doyce Whitten and Rev. Sammy Roe, officiating. Interment followed at Holly Ridge Cemetery at Colquitt, LA. The family received friends at the New Beginnings Baptist Church on Monday from 5:00 p.m. till service time on Tuesday.
Mrs. Murray was born March 17, 1949 in Paxton, TX to Sam and Esther Barton Roe. She entered into rest Saturday, May 31, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Murray was a great cook and she loved to sew and quilt. She was a member of the New Beginnings Baptist Church and was a longtime Sunday school teacher.
Mrs. Murray was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James L. Murray; two sons, Scott Murray and wife, Tammy of Bossier City and Jamie Murray and wife, Teresa of Homer; one sister, Rachel Whitten and husband, Rev. Doyce Whitten of Spearsville; three brothers, George Roe and wife Linda of Center, TX, William Roe of Mansfield, LA and Rev. Sammy Roe and wife, Dorothy of Port Arthur, TX; six grandchildren, Tia Crew and husband, Matt, Ryan Murray, Cassidy Murray, Samantha Murray, Hunter Shaffer and Marshall Faulk; one great-granddaughter, Ali Crew; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were Billy Roe, Steve Roe, Marshall Faulk, Mark Whitten, Jerry Whitten and Mike Caples.
