Linda Leigh Mann was called to her heavenly home on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the age of 78. She was born on May 12, 1947, to Doris and Robert English in Stockton, California. As the oldest of three sisters, she grew up enjoying every type of outdoor activity. Linda attended Portland State College and began a 30-year career with the phone company as a project manager and trainer.
Linda was a vibrant individual. Her stunning red hair, her infectious laugh, and her genuine interest in others promptly attracted everyone to her. Whether they were only in her presence for a few minutes or became her lifelong friends, she reached out to sincerely show her care for them. Linda was known to offer her own possessions, her handmade gifts from the heart, and her loving advice and encouragement to so many. Throughout her life, she collected countless friends because of her true concern for others.
In 1977, surrounded by the winter beauty of a ski resort, she met the love of her life, Roger Mann. They were married in 1979 and made their home in Troutdale, Oregon. Their shared interests in fitness, skiing, running, camping, and enjoying the outdoors provided them with opportunities for travel and adventure, including trips to national parks and beautiful islands.
Together, Linda and Roger, as Grandma and Grandpa, invested their time and their love in the lives of each of their six grandchildren. They attended every performance and sporting event, helped with school projects, planned fun-filled sleepovers, cookouts, and holiday traditions, making lasting memories for each one. With their grandparents as role models, the grandchildren were influenced forever by the unwavering devotion, the selfless giving, and the pure joy of family that they conveyed. Each child had no doubt that he or she was unconditionally loved.
Because of Linda’s deep devotion to her Savior, she was a tireless and enthusiastic volunteer in ministry to the homeless in the Portland area for many years. Being a giver by nature, it delighted her to offer food, transportation, and clothing to others. Beyond these, Linda made sure to always offer caring, dignity, and a sense of connection as well for those who felt unseen in their struggles. In partnership with her dear husband, they demonstrated the love of Jesus to hundreds of souls through their service.
Linda had an amazing depth of knowledge of scripture. She read and studied God’s Word constantly, leading ladies’ Bible studies both in her home and virtually for many years. With her prayer partners, Linda routinely invested hours each week in life-changing petitions to her Heavenly Father for the needs of others. Even when her own health challenges became more disruptive, she persisted in sharing the love of Jesus with all those she encountered. She wanted them to know that eternity in Heaven can only be achieved by accepting His free offer of salvation. Although her physical body declined, Linda’s spiritual body remained strong and victorious.
In 2022, Linda and Roger moved to Louisiana, found a wonderful church home at Cypress Baptist in Benton, and quickly made many new friends. It was easy to see that the Lord arranged each detail of their transition to fulfill His purpose. Linda was an inspiration as she continued to live in faith, no matter what her circumstances, until God called her home. It was her wish to not have any memorial service but instead to have each one of us continue running the race marked out for us (Hebrews 12:1) until we are reunited in Glory.
Linda was predeceased by her parents, Doris and Robert English. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Roger Mann; her sons, Chad Christianson (Tonya), and Brian Mann; sisters, Sharon Pack (Gary) and Roberta Morgan (Larry); sisters-in-law, Joyce Foster (Kerry), Jennifer Bailey; grandchildren, Kyleigh Nasseth (Jason), Tyler Christianson (Brittany), Ben and Brynlie Christianson, Hayden and Kaylyn Bailey; nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
“The days of the blameless are known to the Lord, and their inheritance will endure forever.” Psalm 37:18
