Funeral services were held for R.B. "Bob" Linder at the First United Methodist Church in Homer, LA on Friday, November 19th, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. R.B. Moore and Dr. Patricia Bates officiating. Interment followed at Arlington Cemetery in Homer. The family received friends at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer on Thursday, November 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Bob was born November 26, 1925 in Buckhorn, Texas to Edgar M. Linder and Oma LaVerne Dickenson Linder. He graduated from Moody High School in Moody, Texas before enlisting in the Army in 1945 where he held the Military Honor Marksmanship Record at Camp Le June. After spending most of his military career in Germany, he returned home to Texas where he met and married Bobbie Ray Lee-Outlaw of Houston, Texas. They lived in Moody, Houston then San Antonio, Texas before moving to California in 1954. Bob worked for Colson Casters until 1966 when he left to venture out on his own to start Linder Caster and Truck (D.B.A. Linco) and in 1974 purchased the Colson Caster, California franchise. In 1978, due to health and the death of his wife's parents, he and Bobbie moved to Homer on Lake Claiborne. After his "so called" retirement, he and Bobbie built and opened Linder Motor Lodge and Restaurant in 1980 and sold the business in 1986. The Lodge still bears his name. Bob was an avid golfer and spent many, many hours improving, maintaining and playing the Homer Golf Club. He entered into rest Saturday, November 13th following a bout with pneumonia. Bob was preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Bobbie Ray Linder of Homer; sisters, Juanita Taylor and Edith Cerverka both of central Texas; daughter and son-in-law Linda and David Dorries of Calhoun, LA; his sons and daughters-in-law Earle and Janet Linder and Randy and Iris Linder all of Homer, LA. He is also survived by six grandsons, one granddaughter and two great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jason Bancroft, Tim, Jeff, Dan and Ryan Linder, Will Palmer, and Michael and Scott Bancroft Honorary pallbearers were Kendra Linder, Dakota and Parker Clawson, Elmer Poss and the other coffee drinking buddies and Al Doggett and the other golf buddies. For friends considering memorials honoring Mr. Bob Linder, his family suggests donations to the "Claiborne Charity, Inc." to assist Claiborne Parish families in need or the charity of your choice. Bob was on the board for the charity from its origin and was honored in 2005 to be named Man of the Year.
