Linda Harkness Hunter died peacefully July 18, 2022, at Live Oak Health Center in Shreveport following a long illness.  She was 89.  A lifelong resident of Minden, Louisiana, Linda was born August 23, 1932.  Linda graduated from Minden High School in 1950.  In June of 1951 she married Ben Hunter.  They were married for 64 years.

Linda enjoyed reading all her life, especially mysteries.  She was an avid bridge player, playing with a core group of bridge club friends for over 50 years.  She and Ben made many friends over the years playing golf and tennis at Pine Hills Country Club in Minden.

She worked for several years in the 1960s and 70s at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Minden, Ben’s family’s business.

She and Ben were part of a group of Dr Pepper bottlers awarded with an around- the-world trip by the Dr Pepper Company, flying on two chartered airliners in 1996, visiting 10 cities on 4 continents in 25 days.

Linda was preceded in death by her husband Ben Hunter, her parents Letcher and Alta Harkness, her brother Bill Harkness, her sisters Dorothy Firebaugh, Margery Casares and her uncle Bud Upchurch and aunt Dudda Upchurch.  She is survived by her son Jeff Hunter of Shreveport, Louisiana, her brothers Richard Harkness of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Jerry Harkness of Shreveport, Louisiana.
