Linda was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on July 20, 1948. She has been a lifetime resident of Shreveport, LA.
Linda grew up next to her grandparents’ dairy farm. Her grandparents were first generation immigrants from France. Her grandfather entered this country through Ellis Island and her grandmother came through New Orleans.
Linda attended Catholic grammar schools and Saint Vincents Academy high school and graduated in 1966. Linda went to business school and worked at a local bank.
Linda met her future husband, Fabe Moseley, and they were married on November 14, 1968. Fabe went to work at his family paint business, Harrison Paint Company, after attending Louisiana Tech University. Fabe and Linda attended First Methodist Church and were members of the Questers Sunday School class. When Fabe developed cancer, the class and the church was so supportive of them. Fabe fought an 8 year bought with Hodgkins disease and died on November 17, 1978.
Linda was working for pastor Jim Moore at First Methodist Church. Pastor Moore read about the death of a lady named Sally Hamm who died from a fall while skiing in Colorado. Doctor Moore suggested to Linda then she might call Bill Hamm, Sally's husband, as Jim was writing an article on the difference in grief between a long illness such as her husband Fabe had experienced and a sudden death such as Bill's wife had suffered. Linda waited several weeks and then called Bill on his 30th birthday and told him about the article that Jim Moore was writing. There was an instant connection and Bill later went to First Methodist to meet with doctor Moore and also meet Linda. A wonderful friendship ensued and Bill and Linda began dating and ultimately married on September the 29th 1979.
Linda was quick to set up the household and Bill went back to work. Linda had begun running to relieve stress at the advice of one of the members of the Questers Sunday school class. Bill also was a runner and so they had something in common.
But Linda took her running to the next level. In her life she ran 20 major marathons including Boston three times, London and the Goodwill games in 1990. She also competed in the national triathlon championships in Hilton Head SC in 1987 after having done shorter triathlons.
Linda was an equestrian and worked with handicapped children and adults with a program sponsored by the ARC of Caddo Bossier called GREAT. She retired after 21 years. Linda also competed in dressage and won several local awards.
Linda was preceded in death by her dear Grandmother Leone Boullion, her mother Marie Boullion McFarland, and her late first husband, Fabe Moseley.
She is survived by her husband (Bill) William Ellis Hamm, Sr., sons and wives, Chris and Bridget Hamm, Billy Hamm, and Stephen and Heidi Hamm. She is also survived by 7 beautiful grandchildren, Wimberly Hamm, Madison Turner, Macy Turner, Addison Grace Hamm, William Ellis Hamm, III, Sally Abigail Hamm, and Sarah Katherine Hamm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Gilster, Jimmy Gosslee, Mark Florsheim, Dr. Jimmy Moss, Alvin Childs and Don Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be George McInnis and Bill Peatross.
