Funeral service celebrating the life of Lilly C. Rutherford, 64, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026, at San Patricio Baptist Church 41 San Patricio Rd, Converse, Louisiana with Bro. Danny Asbell officiating. Interment will follow at Union Springs Cemetery 1032 Hwy 191, Converse, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the Church.
Lilly C. Rutherford was born on April 13,1962 in Beckley, West Virginia to Evelyn Mae Bragg and James Wilmer Canaday, Sr. and passed away on May 14, 2026 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Lilly worked in Hotel Management for over 25 years. She enjoyed her work and always strived to be the best. When it came to Lilly’s hobbies, they included fishing which she loved to do with her husband, while watching race cars she always cheered on her favorite driver, and cooking for family and friends who can tell you that she was one of the best cooks. Lilly loved people and she helped others when given the opportunity and was one of the most generous givers you would ever meet. Lilly loved her family and would take any and every opportunity to spend time with them. Lilly was a walking example of God’s word to love one another.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, James and Evelyn Canaday; brother, Ernie Canaday; sister Ida Mae McCoy; nephew, Joshua Canaday, and granddaughter, Jordan Paige Crump.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, William Lyn Rutherford; daughter, Shelia Canaday Crump; step-daughters, Stacy Rutherford Thompson, and Jan Rutherford Milan; siblings, Carlos Canaday and wife Effie of WV., James Canaday, Jr. and wife Elaine of WV., Ronald Canaday and wife Lora of NC., grandchildren, Brenden Crump, Miley and Cameron Crump, Miles Milan, Gabby Milan, Ty Thompson, Beau Thompson.
Honoring Lilly as pallbearers will be Brenden Crump, Bernard “Fuzzy” Crump, Ty Thompson, Kendall Rutherford, Buddy Rutherford, Robert Canaday, Colt Tipton and Harold David Murray.
