Lewis Wayne Smith

A graveside service for Lewis Wayne Smith, 59, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2022, at Stewart Walkerville Cemetery, County Road 3 off Highway 19, Emerson, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor John Nations.

Lewis was born on July 15, 1962, in Magnolia, Arkansas to William U. Smith and Maxine McKinnis Britt and passed away on June 13, 2022, after battling cancer for the last nine months.

Lewis graduated from Taylor High School, where he was a talented athlete. He was a skilled carpenter and craftsman. His talents allowed him to provide local residents and businesses with beautiful homes, precision woodwork, and stunning countertops. Lewis was married 39 years to his high school sweetheart, Melody. Together, they have two children, Olivia and Connor Jack. Lewis’ favorite enjoyment was being with family and friends at the deer camp.

Lewis is preceded in death by his mother, Maxine M. Britt; and bonus mom, Louise Smith. He is survived by his father, William U. Smith; wife Melody Smith; children Olivia Hampson and husband, Briton; Connor Jack Smith and wife, Rosie; grandchild, Livi Rose Smith; brothers, James and wife, Kathy, Jamie and wife, Kathy, Mark and wife, Gega, Richard; sisters, Kim and husband, Zane, Amy and husband, Bill; a host of nieces and nephews; and was beloved “Hotshot” to many great-nieces and nephews.

Honoring Lewis as pallbearers will be Kelly Cannon, Bruce Hoyle, Brent Hine, Pat Stinson, Jamie Sheppard, and Jeremy Sheppard. 

The family would like to express gratitude to the doctors and nurses of Ochsner LSU Health Medical Center, CHRISTUS Cancer Treatment Center, and CHRISTUS Shreveport-Bossier Health System Highland.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests that memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
