Lessie Knotts Murphy passed away June 9, 2014 in Homer Memorial Hospital at the age of 98. She was born January 10, 1916 in Castor, Louisiana to Zuma Walter Knotts and Mattie Pullig Knotts. A celebration of life service for Mrs. Murphy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 11 at First Baptist Church, Doyline, LA with Bill Crider officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden. A visitation will be held at Doyline First Baptist Church at 1 p.m. until service time. Mrs. Murphy was a long time resident of Doyline and an active member of Doyline First Baptist Church for 65 years. She was an excellent cook, avid seamstress, and loved to work in her yard. She retired in 1983 as cafeteria manager at Doyline High School. Lessie was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Ennis Tilton Murphy and great-granddaughter Kati Elizabeth Mourad; her brothers Armond Knotts, Bud Knotts, Fred Knotts and Harold Knotts; her sisters Ercell Ivy and Tressie Woodard. Mrs. Murphy is survived by son Harry Murphy and wife Judy; daughter Janice Murphy Mourad and husband Bobby all of Minden. Mamaw Murphy especially loved her grandchildren and great-grand's and they include Rebecca Murphy of Dallas, Jeff Mourad and wife Becky and children Allison and Nick of Minden; Jay Mourad of Bossier City and children Madeline and Jackson. Mrs. Murphy is also survived by a sister Gertrude Bell of Zavalla, TX and sister-in-law Geraldine Knotts of Dallas, TX and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews. Serving, as pallbearers will be Mack Knotts, Ken Ivy, Mike Woodard, Bruce Tedder, Jimmy Stewart, David Wood, and Jackie Davis. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Dr. Cliff Salmon, Dr. Clint Butler, Willow Ridge Nursing Home and Homer Memorial Hospital for the care given to our loved one. The family suggests memorials honoring Mrs. Murphy be sent to Doyline First Baptist Church, P.O.
