IN LOVING MEMORY OF LEON “Boos” GREEN September 25, 1944 – February 5, 2026
Leon Green was born in Marksville, Louisiana, to Willis and Magester Green. He was nicknamed “Boos” after a close friend of the family, Mr. Brewster.
Leon was the middle child of three, with his younger brother, Darryl Green, (who preceded him in death), and his older sister, Louise Jacob.
At an early age, Leon showed great promise in agriculture. His older sister often said Leon was the best at picking cotton, good at completing chores, and was outstanding at raising turkeys and hogs. He was also known for having a “green thumb” and could grow just about anything. He grew okra, mustard greens, cabbage, field peas, snap beans, cucumbers, tomatoes, sweet potatoes, and many types of flowers.
Once Leon was old enough to work and drive, he often drove a white truck. He loved driving his truck, enjoyed going fishing, and loading his truck with all his fishing equipment. Leon also loved to cook. He especially enjoyed making gumbo and barbecue. He appreciated good parties with family and friends and loved sharing food, drinks, and laughter.
In his later years, Leon married Diann Butler of Poland, Louisiana, in 1968. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Houston, Texas, and began their new life together. Leon and Diann were blessed with three loving children: Cedric Antonio Green, Kelvin DeWayne Green, and Leonetta Dontrell Green.
Leon later married Lavana Greaves in 1983. Through this marriage, he gained three stepchildren: Lisa Greaves, (Young) Ingrid Greaves, (Wilson) and Reginald Carl Greaves Jr. Lavana Green passed away in 1993.
Years later, Leon married Lily Gasper. They remained married for over 30 years until her passing on March 13, 2025. Through this marriage, he gained four stepchildren: Leontyne Gasper (Ernest), Travis Gasper, and William Gasper, who preceded him in death.
While living in Houston, Leon worked at Brown and Root Industrial Services as a mailroom supervisor for 25 years. He also worked part-time as a bricklayer. In addition, he was a skilled carpenter who enjoyed remodeling garages into rooms.
Leon was preceded in death by his father, Willis Green; his mother, Magester Green; his younger brother, Darryl Green; his first wife, Diann Butler (Howe), his second wife, Lavana Porterie Green; and his third wife, Lily Gasper Green.
Leon leaves to cherish his memory his children: Cedric Green of Klein, Texas; Kelvin Green Sr. (wife, Lisa) of Missouri City, Texas; and Leonetta Green of San Antonio, Texas.
He also leaves to cherish his memory his stepchildren: Lisa Greaves, (Young) Ingrid Greaves, (Wilson) Reginald Carl Greaves Jr, (wife, Leticia), Leontyne Gasper (Ernest), and Travis Gasper.
He leaves a host of grandchildren: Jamal Green, Terrell Green, Kelvin Green, Jr., Deja Green, Amaya Green, Reagan Green, Anthony Green, Isaiah Green, Daniel Green, Andrew Green, and Matthew Green; four great-grandchildren; and many close relatives and friends in Louisiana and Houston, Texas.
He also leaves to mourn his sister, Louise Jacob of Marksville, Louisiana, as well as nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be officiated by Reverend Jason W. Jacob of Saint Mark Chapel, Alexandria, Louisiana.
