Leon Baggs

Leon passed away peacefully on June 11, 2025 surrounded by loved ones. A man of quiet strength, steady hands, and a heart deeply rooted in simple joys, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and the scent of fresh grass and BBQ.

Born on October 31, 1953 in Shreveport, Leon found happiness in life's most grounding pleasures. Whether casting a line on the beach or tending to his yards with pride and care, he lived each day with intention and gratitude.

The beach was his sanctuary, a place where time slowed down and the waves told stories only he could hear. Fishing wasn't just a hobby for him, it was a way to connect with nature, to reflect, and to find peace. Friends and family often recall the contentment he found on the shoreline.

When he wasn't near the water, you could find him behind a lawn mowed sculpting his yards, or cooking. He took joy in the rhythm of the work and satisfaction of a well kept lawn and a juicy brisket is a testament of his patience and dedication.

Leon enjoyed the simple things in life. He enjoyed walks down around the pond where he spent many hours fishing with the family, riding the tracker, and making his famous brisket. He will be remembered for his wit and carefree attitude.

Above all Leon was a loving brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He taught us the value of hard work, the beauty of nature, and the importance of finding joy in everyday moments.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; siblings, Don (Kay) and Stacey; sons, Chris (Jenn) and Jason; grandchildren and great-grandchild.

A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2025 located at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, LA 71118. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kay Gilbert.
