“Fill your heart with music and your song will be eternal” For our loving father, LC Rains
Lee Conley Rains, or LC, as he was called, passed away at his home September 14, 2024. He was surrounded by his devoted wife of 61 years, Bobbie Hedges Rains and family.
LC Rains was born January 18, 1939, at his home in Bossier City, LA. His parents were Lee Conley Rains, Sr. and Evelyn Edna Vascoe Rains. He has two sisters, Evelyn Maurine Palmer (Lyle) and Betty Jean Flores (Adrian, deceased).
LC graduated from Fair Park High School in 1957. He was musically inclined and could play by ear better than reading music. Piano was his favorite and Great Balls of Fire was the most requested song by his grandchildren. They were in for a treat IF they could get him to play! Other instruments included the organ, accordion, and the saxophone.
He was a long-time member of Life Tabernacle Church in Shreveport, where he met his wife, Bobbie. LC would play piano during church services while Bobbie would sing. They were married May 3, 1963, and had three children: Lee Conley Rains III, Nellie Michele Ebarb (David), and Mary Maurine Hoon (Chris).
LC retired from GNB Battery in Shreveport. He was an active member of the United Auto Workers Local 1532, and served as their financial secretary for many years, as well as for the Louisiana State Labor Union.
LC was a car enthusiast! He loved convertibles and had a ’57 red Bellaire, and a pink Cadillac to name just a few! Another love of his was food! He said he was born on the dining room table and never got too far away from it. LC was always in the mood for Mexican food or banana pudding! During the holidays he was known for making cheese rolls and fruit cakes.
Left to cherish his lively memory is his wife, Bobbie; both his sisters; his children; nieces; nephews; and a host of grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and countless friends from all walks of life!
