Laura was born in Miami, Florida on July 23, 1956. Her family moved to Shreveport, LA around 1960. She graduated from Southwood High School in 1974 and attended Northeast Louisiana where she received a bachelor’s degree. She was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She met the father of her children, Keith, in college, and they were married in her hometown of Shreveport, LA. Later in life she earned a degree in teaching and taught in Caddo Parish for 23 years until her retirement in 2019.

Laura was immensely dedicated to her family. She treasured her three children above all else and embraced every moment spent with them. She never missed a dance recital, cheer competition, football game, party or graduation. Laura’s second greatest love was her five beautiful grandchildren. She loved being their LaLee, spending time with them and watching them grow. She had a passion for traveling and loved her beach vacations. Her fondest memories were made at the beach surrounded by her
family and friends.

Laura is preceded in death by her father, Benjamin “Kenny” Taylor; grandparents, Benjamin and Bertie Taylor, Michael and Adelina Grande. Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Addie Taylor; children, Kathryn Murphy, Benjamin Murphy and wife, Christy, McKenzie Murphy and fiancé, Matt; grandchildren, McKenly Murphy, Adeline Murphy, Benjamin Murphy, Lillian Tilley and Saylor Tilley; father of her children, Keith Murphy; brothers, sisters, and multiple nieces and nephews.
