Laura Lea Prichard Bolton

Laura Lea Prichard Bolton, 66, of Sibley, Louisiana, passed away October 12, 2026, following a brief illness. She entered the gates of Heaven surrounded by her family.

Laura spent her entire life taking care of others. Her love was felt by many people across northwestern Louisiana through her work as a nurse specializing in geriatric care. Her caring reached far beyond the walls of the doctor offices, hospitals, and nursing homes where she worked. In every facet of life, Laura was revered as a special friend, a beloved family member, or maybe that nice lady you met in the grocery store check out line.

Laura possessed the rare combination of practical intelligence and emotional insight. An avid reader, she could hold a conversation on just about any subject, thrilling in the knowledge that she gleaned from the other participants and leaving them with new information or points to ponder. She was not shy about sharing her opinions but not judgmental if you expressed a different view.

Although she was quick with a smile and easy going on the surface, she was not afraid to tackle the more difficult situations of life. If you needed a helping hand, she lifted you up. And she did not hesitate to offer you honest advice on how to fix the problem that led to you falling down. Most importantly, she did not turn away if you fell again.

The most visible evidence of her caring nature walked on four legs. Over her lifetime, Laura fed, watered, treated, housed, and loved dozens of stray dogs and cats. Many times, she spotted the animals abandoned along the backroads she often drove in the dark for her long work commutes. The trunk of her car held a ready supply of food and water that she would give to the creatures too afraid of close human contact. For the many animals that rightfully followed their instincts and trusted her enough to let her take them home, there was a kitchen cupboard shelf devoted solely to holding their favorite snacks.

Laura’s memory and legacy will live on in those she is leaving behind. Marvin Wayne Bolton, her devoted and loving husband of 50 years. Three sons and their wives: Jeremy Bolton and Alana Bolton; Kevin Bolton and Kristi Bolton; Chad Bolton and Cindy Bolton. Siblings Ellen Wall, Bill Prichard, Chuck Prichard, and Ben Prichard. Grandchildren Morgan McGhee and CJ McGhee, Mallori Bolton, and Christian Bolton. Great grandchild Marceline McGhee. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Pall Bearers Jeremy Bolton, Kevin Bolton, Chad Bolton, Ben Prichard, Brian Prichard, Matthew Greenwood
