Larry Joe Portales

Funeral services honoring the life of Larry Joe Portales, 71, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. A visitation will be held Friday, March 5, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow the service at Forest Park Cemetery Mausoleum, 3700 St. Vincent Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana. Larry was born September 15, 1949 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Elizabeth and Joe Portales and passed away, Sunday, February 28, 2021 in Flower Mound, Texas. Larry graduated from Jesuit High School in Shreveport in 1967. He received his doctorate degree in optometry from the University of Houston and practiced in Del Rio, Ft. Worth, Dallas, and Flower Mound, Texas before retiring in 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 17 years, Jana Portales; brother, Charles Portales; sister, Dianne Hill of Oregon; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. With a huge heart for rescue animals, he also leaves behind his Great Pyrenees, Fenway. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be made to the Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, Attn: Jana Portales, 921 Drake Trail, Flower Mound, Texas 75028 or the cancer or diabetic research organization of the donor's choice.
