Larry James Monzingo

Larry James Monzingo, 82, of Minden, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his two sons.

Larry was born on March 6, 1944, in Minden, Louisiana. He was a selfless, kind, loving, generous, and funny man who had a gift for making others feel cared for and loved. Larry was the kind of person who always put others before himself and never hesitated to lend a helping hand.

He was a devoted husband and father, not only to his two sons but also to many others who looked to him as a father figure throughout their lives. His family and friends were the center of his world, and the love he gave so freely will remain a lasting part of their lives.

Outside of his family and friends, Larry had two great passions: playing music and bass fishing. He found great joy in music and loved spending time outdoors doing what he enjoyed. These passions, along with his quick sense of humor and generous spirit, were just a few of the things that made Larry so special to those who knew him.

Larry was a dedicated employee of the Minden Coca-Cola Bottling Company, where he proudly worked for more than 50 years. His commitment to his work was a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War.

Larry is survived by his sons, Scott Monzingo and Christopher Monzingo and his wife, Denise; and his beloved grandchildren, Madison and Ryleigh. He is also survived by his younger brother, Jerry Monzingo and his wife, Mary; sister-in-law, Frieda Monzingo; brothers-in-law, Bob Spivey, Roy Davis and John Holder; and many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Fred and Ima Lee Monzingo; his beloved wife, Esta Monzingo; granddaughter, Ashley Monzingo; brothers, Byron, Fredrick, and David Monzingo; sisters, Myrna Moore and Sandra Spivey; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, laughter, music, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but the love he shared and the lives he touched will continue to live on through those who were fortunate enough to know him.

A graveside service will be held Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Grove Cemetery in Minden, LA with a visitation Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Minden.
