Larry Nelson Crumbliss, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of Jehovah, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. Born on January 25, 1949, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Jim and June Crumbliss. Larry lived a life marked by love for his family, strong faith, and generous service to others.
Throughout his life, Larry found enjoyment in many things. He loved playing golf, watching sports, and spending time exploring museums. He also had a lifelong interest in cars and loved road trips.
But the things that mattered most to Larry were not things at all. They were his family, his faith, and the way he chose to live his life.
Larry shared 57 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Mary Ann Crumbliss. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, commitment, friendship, and devotion. Through more than five decades together, Larry and Mary Ann demonstrated what it meant to build a life side by side, providing their daughters and family with an enduring example of a truly happy marriage.
At the age of 28, Larry began an in-depth study of the Bible that would profoundly shape the rest of his life. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on December 14, 1976, and developed a deep and steadfast faith in Jehovah and His promises. His faith was not simply something he spoke about; it was reflected in how he lived and in the generous way he gave of himself to the congregation and to his family.
Over the years, Larry devoted countless hours to sharing the Bible’s message with others. His desire to reach and help people led him and Mary Ann to learn sign language so that they could share their faith with members of the Deaf community. They also participated in prison ministry, spending time studying the Bible with inmates who were interested in learning more. Larry willingly gave his time and energy because he genuinely believed that the hope he had found in the Scriptures was something worth sharing.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Ann; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Ralph Raith and Lara and Kenneth Leonas; his granddaughters, Jessica Bakalis and her husband, Joshua, and Alexa Lofback and her husband, Evan; and his great-grandsons, Titus Joshua and Taysom Ward; and by his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Yvette Crumbliss.
Those who knew Larry will remember a man of strong faith and conviction, a loving and devoted husband, and a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. They will remember the rounds of golf, the games watched together, his ready laugh and the many jokes and witticisms…all the ordinary moments that, in hindsight, become some of the most precious.
While Larry’s absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved him, his family takes great comfort in the hope he held so dearly—the Bible’s promise of a resurrection and the day when loved ones will be reunited in a peaceful world without any sickness, suffering, or death.
Until that day when we are all together again, Larry will be deeply loved, dearly missed, and always remembered.
