SUMMERFIELD, LA: Lara Lynn Edwards Waddle, 48, passed away on June 28, 2018, at her home in Summerfield, LA. She left us far sooner than those who loved her wanted after six years of battling cancer with grace, dignity, and courage. Lara was born December 6, 1969, in West Monroe, LA. She was a graduate of Summerfield High School and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northwestern State University. She worked at Minden Medical Center and as a school nurse for Claiborne Parish Schools in Homer, LA. She and Robert "Robbie" Doyle Waddle, Jr. were married December 29, 1989, and they have shared a special bond admired by their family and friends. Lara loved her family and brought fun to every event and family occasion. Travel was her favorite past time. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Rachel Taylor and paternal grandparents, Clyde and Jewel Edwards. She is survived by her husband and their daughter, Emily Rachel Bennett and her husband, Matthew Bennett, a granddaughter, Cora Blake Bennett, and a grandson to be born in January 2019. She is also survived by her parents, Audie and Ann Edwards; a sister, Dejuanna Albritton and husband, Ken; and a brother, Randy Edwards and wife, Sandy. She is survived by Robbie's parents, Doyle and Barbara Waddle; his brother, Keith Waddle and wife, Jennifer. She deeply loved and cherished her relationships with her nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Homer, Louisiana on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 10:00 A.M. Officiating was Rev. R.B. Moore. Burial followed the service at Summerfield Cemetery in Summerfield, LA. Visitation was on June 29, 2018 from 5-8 P.M. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Homer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It is her request that those with a "Waddle for the Cure" shirt wear it to the funeral service. Special thanks to Dr. Scott Boniol and the staff at Christus-Highland Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Samuel Abshire, and the nurses and staff at Regional Hospice. "I know why God wanted you in heaven. Because you are the closest thing to an angel I've ever known." RDWJr Pallbearers were Keith Waddle, Matthew Bennett, Tom Hudson, Ken Albritton, Randy Edwards and Chad Verdin.
