Lamar Ozley, Jr.

Lamar E. Ozley, Jr. was born on March 28, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Lamar E. Ozley, Sr. and Mabel Lyons Ozley. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University in 1958 and a J.D. degree from Louisiana State University Law School in 1960. He then received an M.B.A. degree from Harvard Business School in 1962.

After completing his education, Lamar was employed by Texas Capital Corporation, a venture capital firm in central Texas, where he later became the president of the investment company. He resigned in 1972 to manage his personal investments and timber business. He remained enthusiastically active in these pursuits his entire life.

Lamar was married to Christine Colbert Ozley for 41 years. They created a loving and fun home for their beloved son, Ellis. Together, they enjoyed a life of cooking, gardening, traveling, and entertaining. Lamar loved to share stories from his life with his guests. He told them with a twinkle in his eye, a crooked smile, and almost always, self-deprecating humor.

Lamar’s most loved activity was spending time with his family at their cabin in the woods in North Louisiana. He enjoyed beginning and ending each day watching the wildlife from the front porch, fishing, driving through the timber, and sharing family dinners.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jennie Lee Ozley. He is survived by his wife, Chrissy Ozley, their son William Ellis Ozley, his children Lamar Anderson Ozley (Jennifer), Cecilia Athey, and grandchildren Cooper and Ginny Ozley.
