SHREVEPORT, LA - Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Kenneth Ben Attaway went home to be with our Lord on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at the age of 75. Ken was born on December 29, 1938 in Shreveport, LA to Elmer and Annie May Attaway. Ken proudly served his country in the Navy for six years. He worked in the grocery business for over 50 years, including Safeway, A&P, Brookshires and County Market, as well as owning his own grocery store, Ken's Thrifty Way Market at Milam and Hope Street. Ken was a faithful Christian and a member of Brookwood Baptist Church. Ken was known for his warm smile and brought much joy to others. Ken lived the motto "your word is your bond." Ken is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sandy; his daughters, Julie Gilbert and husband, Jon of Crestline, CA and Becky Crook and husband, Dennis of Shreveport; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Elsea and husband, Daniel and Michael Harris and Jonathan and Karlee Gilbert of Crestline, CA; sister, Betty Faye Jennings and brother, Claude Lee Attaway and wife, Pebba; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Elmer Ray and Jerry, sisters, Thelma Lukashay and Lucille Litton. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday June 5, 2014 at Rose-Neath Southside, from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral services will be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel at 2 pm on Friday, June 6, 2014. Burial will follow in Summer Grove Cemetery.
