Katy Mixon O'Neal

Katheryn “Katy” Mixon O’Neal, age 65, was born December 31, 1960, to G. H. and Ruby Husser Mixon. She entered into rest on October 28, 2026, in Shreveport, LA. Katy attended NLU in Monroe after graduating from Redding High in Cincinnati, OH. She met the love of her life, Jay, in Monroe on Halloween in 1982. Her and Jay married 1983 on June 18, 1983 and started their family. Katy worked for Families helping Families as a case manager assisting families with disabled family member.

She also worked as a manager the Dollar General. Katy was a co-founder for the Dixie Diehards baseball league of West Monroe for handicap and special needs individuals, where she also coached, as well. She worked as a care giver for special needs individuals the last ten years. Katy was a loving wife and care giver and will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jay O’Neal of Homer, LA; three sons, Jay Thomas O’Neal, JR, and wife Ashley of Rogers, AR, Floyd Mixon O’Neal of Homer, LA, and Casey Chappell O’Neal of Homer, LA; brother, Gurlie Hamilton Mixon, III, of CA; two grandchildren, Keagen Rhyleigh O’Neal and Pyper Lynn Appel O’Neal; and numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers honoring Katy, her family suggests memorials be made to the Dixie Diehards through Dixie Youth baseball of West Monroe, LA.
