Kathleen Eugenia Potter

Kathleen Hillier Potter slipped from her earthly life and entered into the presence of her Savior on June 29, 2026. Kathleen, or "Kathy" as most knew her as, was born on November 7, 1935. Her parents were Marvin and Ethel Hillier.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 3, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Summer Grove Baptist Church Cemetery located at the corner of Mansfield Road and West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. A visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the start of the service.

In her early years, Kathleen attended Fair Park High School graduating in 1953. She often reflected on her years with fond memories. She later attended Baylor University before marrying Morris Potter in 1955. Together they had five children. Kathleen was a stay-at-home mother and devoted wife. She developed a deep love of the outdoors and enjoyed spending time taking photos of God's creation. Kathleen also developed a love of learning and collected an extensive amount of books to create her own personal library. This love of learning eventually led Kathleen to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from LSUS in 1991.

Kathleen was a devoted member of Summer Grove Baptist Church and loved volunteering whenever possible. When she could no longer volunteer because of health, she was often seen reading her Bible or watching church services on TV. Kathleen looked forward to the day when she could be reunited with her loved ones and stand in the presence of Jesus. Her hope was for all of her family to come to Christ so that one day they could spend eternity in the presence of Jesus Christ.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her husband, Morris Potter; and her parents, Marvin and Ethel Hillier. Left to cherish her memory are her children, David Potter, Richard Potter and wife, Lavera, John Potter and wife, Nancy, Linda Wood, James Potter and wife, Joan; grandchildren, Daniel Potter and wife, Tabitha, Lois Potter, Hannah Spataro and husband, Logan, and Matthew Potter; great-granddaughter, Abigail and cousin, Margie Heard; and many friends and extended family.

...So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. For we walk by faith, not by sight. We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord...
