Kathleen Beatrice Henderson Hathorn

A Celebration of Life service for Kathleen Beatrice Henderson Hathorn, 73, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2201 Airline Drive, Bossier City, Louisiana. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial to follow at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, 7970 Mike Clark Road, Keithville, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Pastor Tommy Patton.

Kathleen was born on July 9, 1948, in Long Beach, California, to Homer Carl Henderson and Gladys Jean Whooly Henderson. She passed on June 9, 2022, from complications and side effects of a very lengthy untreatable, and incurable illness after several days in the hospital.

Kathleen Beatrice Henderson Hathorn was a very gentle and kindhearted Christian woman with never a bad word for anyone. A great wife and mother and very creative and had an artistic touch.  She was born in Long Beach, California, and grew up first in Compton and then Huntington Beach, California.  She loved home life and also enjoyed traveling with her husband around the country for his job.  After full-time RVing for several years, She and James moved to the country out to Rocky Mount, and she enjoyed taking care of the mowing, had numerous potted plants outside every spring, and brought them in during winter. She used to get very frustrated with the deer eating her plants and had one very funny close encounter with a yearling buck out in the yard.

She enjoyed talking with people and listening to their life stories. She enjoyed a good laugh, a great sense of humor, and a very positive attitude toward life and her church life.  She had an absolutely great smile and bright blue eyes that shined when she was happy. She loved the national parks, especially Yosemite, Yellowstone, and Grand Canyon.

She had worked for Pacific Bell, as a substitute teacher, worked in retail sales some, also at a dental lab, and especially enjoyed being a homemaker, at which she excelled.

Kathleen is preceded in death by her parents; both parents’ siblings. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, James; They have one child also named James and his wife, Karen; two grandchildren, Shelby and Thomas; Kath has one brother, Dave, and his wife, Donna, who reside in California; and their two children, Morgan and Adam; and numerous cousins living around the country.

Honoring Kathleen as pallbearers will be Dale Crabtree, Ed Gongre, James S. Hathorn, Thomas Hathorn, David Henderson, and Danny Simms.
