Funeral services honoring the life of Katherine Lynn Brumley will be held at Midway Baptist Church in Converse, LA on Monday, November 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. William Hassan, Rev. Pat Cobb, Rev. Gary Hanberry and Rev. Lee McClintock. Family will receive friends for visitation at the church from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Interment will follow at Mitchell Cemetery in Mitchell, LA.
Katherine was born on July 6, 1936 in Converse, Louisiana to A.D. and Nellie Lucius. She entered into rest on November 14, 2019 in Mansfield, LA.
Mrs. Brumley was raised in Florien, LA and graduated from high school in 1954. Mrs. Brumley graduated with her first degree in education from Northwestern State University in 1957. She returned and completed her Master's degree and special education degree while teaching at Converse. She taught school in Lake Charles, Westlake, and Sulphur Louisiana. After 8.5 years and the birth of two children, Donnie, Jr., & Melissa she moved to Converse, Louisiana, where she continued her career and family with the birth of her third child, Daniel. She taught for four years in Mansfield and twenty-one years in Converse. She taught Sunday school and played the organ at First Baptist of Converse until she moved to Midway Baptist "her special church family" where she taught Sunday school and played the organ for an additional 36 years.
Mrs. Brumley is preceded by her parents and great-grandson, Nicholas Reed Sistrunk. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 33 years, Hubert Brumley; sons, Donnie Sistrunk, Jr. and wife Karla and Daniel Sistrunk and wife Valerie; daughter, Melissa Richardson and husband Craig; sister, Claire Thompson of Florien, LA; twin brother, Dan Lucius and wife Ann of Baytown, TX and brother Sidney Lucius and wife Jeanette of Florien, LA; grandchildren, Kevin Richardson, Aaron Sistrunk and wife Jessica, Paige Salley and husband Kyle, Rusty Sistrunk, Tyler Richardson and wife Elaina, Acie Sistrunk and Jackson Sistrunk; great-grandchildren, Charlie Richardson and Landon Sistrunk; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Serving Mrs. Brumley as pallbearers will be her grandsons and Roger Webb.
Honorary pallbearer will be Floyd Ford.
