Julie Ann Murphy

Julie Ann Murphy, 57, of Keachi, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 1:44 p.m. Surrounded in love, she left this world with the same grace, strength, and unwavering courage that defined her life.

Born on June 30, 1968, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to Eugene and Lillian Marie Corrigan, Julie was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend whose love knew no bounds. Julie fought with every ounce of strength she had. Even on her hardest days, she showed resilience that was nothing short of extraordinary. She held on with determination and love, and she inspired everyone who witnessed her fight. She was light in every room - gentle, steady, driven, and full of heart.

Julie's love for horses shaped every chapter of her life. Growing up on a farm in La Pryor, Texas, she learned independence and balance riding bareback through open fields - lessons that would guide her forever.

That talent carried her far. She earned rodeo scholarships to Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde and later to Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, where she earned her degree in Kinesiology. Following graduation, for the next 20 years, she poured her heart into teaching. Throughout her career as a schoolteacher, she taught both elementary physical education and special education. She retired from Keithville Elementary in 2014. Even during those years in the classroom, Julie never stepped away from the arena - she rode, trained, competed, and continued building her horsemanship with passion and grit.

Julie's teaching didn't stop with retirement. She stepped into her lifelong calling and was a teacher and mentor everywhere she traveled. She was respected by people from all walks of life, all ages, all backgrounds. She stepped fully into her calling and began working for Tom O'Neal as a horse trainer, coach and mentor to his daughters before founding her own program, JM Performance Horses. Known for her feel, her patience, and her unwavering dedication, Julie became a respected trainer, mentor, and inspiration within the horse community. Horses were not just part of her life - they were her language, her peace, and her purpose.

Julie is preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Mary Murphy. Left to cherish her memory is her devoted husband, KC Murphy; parents, Eugene and Lillian Marie Corrigan; her beloved children, Josey and Macon Murphy; daughter-in-law, Katie McKay-Murphy; siblings, Frances Corrigan, Patrick Corrigan, and Michael Corrigan; nieces Marilyn, Christi, and Delilah Rodriguez, and Kristina Frazier; nephews, Raymond and Jase Rodriguez, and Trey Williams; father-in-law, Gary Murphy; brother-in-law, Marty and sister-in-law, Penny; her traveling companion and faithful partner, Motley; and a large extended family who will carry her memory forward with love and pride.

Her story, her strength and her love will live on forever. Julie will always be our light. #TeamJulieStrong
