JULIA ELVERN "CHRIS" FLANAGAN
SHREVEPORT, LA- Julia Elvern \"Chris\" Chrisman Hammons Flanagan went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on July 16, 2016. A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday July 19, 2016 at 10: 00 a.m. at Rose- Neath Southside Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Billy Stevens. Visitation will be held Monday July 18, 2016 at Rose- Neath funeral home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Chris was born on August 14, 1928 in Gibsland, Louisiana. She grew up in the Mineral Springs Community north of Ruston, Louisiana and graduated from Ruston High.
She was an active member of Willow Point Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School teacher, church hostess, wedding coordinator and in various other capacities.
Chris worked as a school secretary at Captain Shreve High School and then at Byrd High before her retirement.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ottis Hammons and husband, Charles Flanagan, her parents Charlie and Jeffie Bryan Chrisman, sister, Helen Parnell and brother-law, Harold Parnell of Choudrant, brother Joe Chrisman of Shreveport, brother, Billy Chrisman and sister-law Peggy Chrisman of Bossier City.
Left to cherish her memory are daughter, Brenda Hammons Kolniak, daughter Cheryl Flanagan Currie and son-in-law, Louis \"Kim\" Currie. Also, grandchildren, Kris (Mandy) Kolniak, Jon Kolniak, Anthony (Kelly) Kolniak, Erika (Mark) Haddon, Daniel Currie and David (Koro) Currie. She loved her \"greats\", Gabi, Drew, Julia, Joanna, Zach, McKenzie and Anna Beth with another on the way. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Johnnie Bishop, and brother, J.B. Chrisman and sister-in-law Karol Chrisman and a large extended family along with many cherished friends.
The family thanks everyone at Heritage Manor West and the staff at Life Path Hospice Care.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations to Louisiana Baptist Children\'s Home in Monroe, Louisiana.
