Julia Earline Collums was born August 24, 1937, in Calhoun City, MS. Affectionately known by the loves of her life as Mama Lene, left to celebrate with her Lord and Savior on May 15, 2022. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Baptist Church in Homer, LA on May 19, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. with Bro. Steve Beard and Bro. Brent Shoalmire. Interment will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Homer, LA. The family will receive friends at Rose Neath Funeral Home in Homer, LA on May 18, 2022 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Mama Lene's greatest joy in life were her children and grandchildren. She was happiest in the kitchen cooking for her family and known for having a green thumb and ability to make anything grow. Mama Lene was all around kind heart, able to do anything and good at everything. Mama Lene was preceded in death by husband's, W.M. "Bill" Monk and Clinton D. Collums; daughter, Linda Monk Casciola Doherty; son, Chris Collums; and sisters, Shirley, Dixie, Diane, and Annette. Mama Lene is survived by sons, John "Butchie" Monk, David Monk and wife Teresa, Bodie Monk and wife Debbie, and Mike Collums and significant other Connie; grandchildren, Angie Guice (Mike), Jason Monk (Jennifer), Brandi Monk (Terry), Genie Monk (Braden), Kyle Monk (Erin), Joshua Monk (Kelsey), and Justin Monk; sister, Carolyn Mitchell; brother, Sunny Lester; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great, great-grandchild; and an abundance of nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; and special friends, Lavenia Mardis and Willie Aubrey. Pallbearers are her grandsons and honorary pallbearers are her great-grandsons, Kyler Monk, Brody Monk, and Bryce Monk. The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Ashley Hollenshead, Danita Hickey, and Mary Nell Ferguson for their loving care and comfort for Mama Lene these past months. In lieu of flowers honoring Mama Lene, her family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and Calvary Baptist Church.
