Our beloved Judy Rader, 81, was ushered into Heaven from St. Joseph's Hospice Carpenter's House on October 24, 2021, after an extended illness. Judy was born January 21, 1940 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma to Clarence and Idah Loretta Henderson Paden.
Judy attended Oklahoma State University where she met and married then Lt. John Randolph Rader, USAF. Judy embraced her military life, and as her husband rose in rank, she became president of the Officers' Wives Organization. She also volunteered her services to the wives of enlisted men, offering love and support, especially to those whose husbands were killed in combat. When Colonel Rader retired at Barksdale Air Force Base, Judy continued to use her leadership abilities to coach and mentor the Evangel Christian Academy cheerleaders. For years she helped young girls receive honors and scholarships.
She also served as an award-winning Weight Watchers consultant, helping hundreds of men and women achieve renewed health. Entertaining was Judy's calling. Judy was in demand as a speaker for youth gatherings, church events, Rotary Club, Junior League, and other civic events. She didn't have to have an audience or a microphone, she brought joy and laughter wherever she went. Her quick wit, spontaneous laughter and warm irresistible smile will be sorely missed.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Wileeta Treadway. She is survived by her husband, Colonel John R. Rader; sons, Brian Rader and wife, Catherine and Todd Rader and wife, Regina; and grandchildren, Alex, Molly, Rachel, Rylan and Emerson.
Funeral services for Judy will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Shreveport Community Church, 5720 Buncombe Road, Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will immediately follow at Rose-Neath Cemetery, 5185 Swan Lake Spur, Bossier City, Louisiana. Officiating will be Reverend Denny Duron.
Honoring Judy as pallbearers will be Todd Rader, Bryan Rader, Ty Alley, Johnny Dempsey, Mike Quinn and Todd Graham.
