Judy "Moppie" McCalister

Funeral services for Judy Mae \"Moppie\" McCalister, 75, will be held on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 2500 Southside Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery in Jefferson, Texas. A visitation will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Rose-Neath. Officiating the service will be Reverend Dennis Aaron. Judy was born on November 25, 1946 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Walter Hood, Sr. and Faye Hood and passed away on March 5, 2021 in Longview, Texas. Judy was a resident of Jefferson, Texas and worked as an Administrative Assistant at the Northwest State School for 21 years before retiring. She graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1964 in Shreveport. Her passion was her family. She spent every moment she could with her four grandchildren. She never missed anything they participated in. She was truly the doting grandmother. They were the light of her life! Judy is preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Donna Turner. Left to cherish her memory is her high school sweetheart and husband of 53 years, Moss; sons, Dean McCalister and wife, Wendy, Shawn McCalister and Samantha Anderson; grandchildren; Austin, Devan, Kynleigh and Kamryn; brother, Walter Hood and wife, Loretta; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Honoring Judy as pallbearers will be Moss McCalister, Dean McCalister, Shawn McCalister, Austin McCalister, Devan McCalister and Walter Hood. The family would like to express special thanks to all the people in her life that brought her so much joy! She loved all these family members and friends. It was truly a life well lived. She will be greatly missed.
