Judith Milam

Judy Edmonds Milam, 73, completed her journey in this life and was welcomed into Heaven on December 24, 2021. Judy loved her homestead, Four Oaks, in Ruple Community which was only surpassed by her love and devotion to her family. Judy was born on March 28, 1948 to Roy W. "Skinny" Edmonds and Willene Varnado Edmonds. She is preceded in death by her parents, her step-father R.G. Mixon, her uncle Dale and wife Carrie Mae Edmonds, Uncle Charles Varnado, and Uncle Frank and wife Nita Varnado. She is survived by her devoted husband, Danny Milam, her brother Ron Edmonds and wife Debbie, her children who are John Grigsby, Dee Milam and wife Deidre, Theresa Milam Mattox and husband Chris, and Trae Milam and wife Caitlin, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many grandchildren which she truly considered her earthly treasures. Judy lived much of her life in the Ruple community. She graduated from Homer High School and was a featured majorette for the mighty Pelicans. She later graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in accounting which she practiced from Metairie to Minden. She eventually opened her own practice in Homer in the yellow building just beyond the railroad tracks. Judy was always helping people and giving advice to family and friends. Judy was active in her church and enjoyed singing and playing the piano. She was the maestro behind the scenes helping to keep the church organized. If you knew Judy, she had her opinions on her faith and on how things should be run which she openly shared. Judy loved her girlfriends whom she played many a hand of Bridge, Rook and other card games throughout the years. She could always be found playing some card game on her laptop or sparking up a game with family. She definitely passed her love of game play to us. Our family is close because of the love and passion of our mother. We honor her memory and look forward to being reunited with her in Heaven for eternity. We love you, Judy, Momma, and Granny! At Judy's request there will only be a grave-side service at the cemetery located directly across from Ruple Baptist Church in Homer, Louisiana at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 28th officiated by Bro Jerry Gill. Pall bearers will be JD Bogues, Keith McLemore, Richard Heard, Dillon Rogers, Caleb Shearin, and Chris Mattox. In lieu of flowers, Judy has requested that donations be made to Holy Angels Residential Facility at 10450 Ellerbe Road in Shreveport, LA 71106. Their website is angels@laholyangels.org
