Judith Ann Brossett

A Mass of Christian Burial honoring the life of Judith Ann Brossett will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the Cathedral of Saint John Berchmans, 939 Jordan Street, Shreveport, Louisiana. Father Peter Mangum will officiate the service. The service will be live streamed at Cathedral of St. John Berchmans Facebook page. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 1815 Marshall Street, Shreveport, Louisiana, and at 8:45 a.m. until the Rosary at 9:15 a.m. at the church prior to the service. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, 2300 Texas Avenue, Shreveport, Louisiana, immediately following the service. On Saturday, December 5, 2020, Judith Ann Brossett, loving sister and aunt of ten nieces and nephews passed away at age 72. Judy was born on October 15, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Jerome and Marie Metoyer Brossett. She received her degree in mathematics with a minor in chemistry at Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas in 1970. Judy worked in the bookkeeping department at Commercial National Bank for 28 years and spent another 6 years at BancorpSouth. It is not often the world is blessed with an angel among us, but in the fall of 1948 Judith arrived. She was a natural born care-taker, a humanitarian, and a woman of strong faith. Judy played a key role in raising her many nieces and nephews, so much that she became a second mom, a pseudo-grandmother, a loving Godmother, and an exceptional human being. She radiated warmth everywhere she went, and was adamant in making sure every single person she knew felt loved. Judy was a 1980's rock n roll fanatic (especially Def Leppard), a golf enthusiast, and was always catching up on her soaps with a crossword puzzle in hand. She was a dedicated parishioner of the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans; she always chose God and family before herself. Judy was known for her wit, intellect, and determination to succeed at any task given to her. Judith was preceded in death by her mother and father; as well as her brother, Jerome "Jerry" Brossett; her sister, Josephine Bruce and nephew, Brandan Brown. She is survived by her sisters, Janet Brossett, Mary Brossett-Brown, and Maureen Gray; as well as her brother, Michael Brossett; nieces, Michelle Turner, Cynthia Jones, Nicole Brown, Celeste Brown, Brittany Berroteran and her nephews, Jason Brown, Joshua Gray, Jeremy Brown, Jordan Gray, and Gabriel Gray, along with many other family and friends. The family suggests donations may be made in Judy's honor to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
