Joyce Luella Calhoun McCoy

Funeral services for Joyce Luella Calhoun McCoy will be held at Bethel Assembly of God. 5801 Bert Kouns, Shreveport, LA, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., and the service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Forest Park West Cemetery, 4000 Meriwether Rd. in Shreveport. Officiating the service will be Pastor Ray Holman.

Joyce passed away Friday, July 4, 2025, after a short illness at the age of 87.

She was born the oldest of seven children in Hope, Arkansas, and lived in Texarkana as well. After moving to Shreveport, she graduated from Byrd High School and then went on to college. Afterwards, she earned her degree as a Dietitian through the Caddo School system and became a Cafeteria Manager, serving as the manager at Walnut Hill for over 30 years. This allowed her to be home with her children and provide for her family.

Joyce and her family were members of First Assembly of God in Shreveport for many years and later joined Bethel Assembly of God in Shreveport. She loved her Lord and ensured that her family was given every opportunity to come to know Him as their personal Savior. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, and for many years, she would host the family gatherings at her hone. She loved to cook and was always trying new recipes. For a time, the church enjoyed her cooking also when she and Garland hosted the Wednesday night meals. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, shopping, and attending yard sales.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Exa Calhoun; husband, Garland Austin McCoy, Sr.; her son, Garland Austin McCoy, Jr. (Luke); and one brother and one sister. 

She is survived by her two daughters, Kelley McCoy Inderman and her spouse, Randy, Cindy McCoy Anstead; one daughter-in-law, Sherri Soigner  and her spouse, Steve; grandchildren, Jonathan McCoy, Joshua McCoy, Renee Blankenship and spouse, Aaron, Hunter Robinson, Fisher Robinson and spouse, Hailey, Angie Horst, Karen Hayes and spouse, Jason, and Kelli Dunn and spouse, JD; great-grandchildren, Cassidy Blankenship, Katie Lee Blankenship, Keaton Blankenship, Robyn Robinson, Cheyenne Horst, Natalie Horst, Caleb Hayes, Cameran Alyssa Hayes, and Jayden Hayes; great-great-grandchildren, Tripp and Trace Campbell; brothers, Jerry Calhoun, Jackie Calhoun and spouse, Marcia; sisters, Sue Hinton and spouse, James, Sharon Mills and spouse, Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews, and many "adopted" children and grandchildren.

The family would like to say how much they appreciate the family and friends who have been such a tremendous support throughout these last few weeks including the staff at Willis Knighton South, PAM Health Specialty Hospital, The Carpenter House, and its hospice care team.

Honoring Joyce as pallbearers will be Jonathan McCoy, Hunter Robinson, Fisher Robinson, Aaron Blankenship, Matthew Anstead, and Dakota Robinson. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Stott, Jr., and Darron Hinton.
