Joyce Ann Ramey Love of Converse, Louisiana, formerly of Bridge City, Texas, entered into eternal rest on April 28, 2021 in Port Arthur, Texas.
Funeral services honoring her life will be held at Beulah Baptist Church 3417 Hwy 481 in Mansfield, LA on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 2:00pm. Visitation will be held at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel 943 Polk St Mansfield, LA from 5:00pm until 8:00pm on Sunday, May 2, 2021. Officiating the service will be Rev. David Permenter. Interment will follow the service at Union Springs Cemetery in Converse, LA.
Joyce was born on July 25, 1940 in Shreveport, Louisiana to J. J. Ramey and Clovis Simpson Ramey. She earned her Bachelor of Music degree from East Texas Baptist University in 1962 and her Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin in 1967. She began her teaching career in 1966 as the first music teacher at Sims Elementary in Bridge City, Texas. She then moved to the classroom and taught 2nd grade for the remainder of her 28 years with BCISD. After her retirement she moved to her home in Converse, Louisiana where she served as the piano player and choir director at Beulah Baptist Church for over 20 years.
Joyce married her college sweetheart, Bobby Gene Love on December 17, 1966 and later had two children, Shane and Shawn.
Preceding her in death are her parents, J.J. and Clovis Ramey and husband, Bobby Love.
She is survived by her son, Shane Love and fiancee Heather Sztaba of Bridge City, Texas; daughter Shawn Sonnier and husband Brent of Orange, Texas; grandson, Slade Sonnier of Orange, Texas; Aunt, Faye Rogers of Farmerville, Louisiana.
Honoring Joyce as Pallbearers are Brent Sonnier, Slade Sonnier, Buddy Rutherford, Tim Bryson, Terry Martin, Alvin Lum, Roger Whitlock and Wayne Carter.
Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Lloyd Jordan, Lane Cangelose and Lynn Rutherford.
