Shreveport, LA - Joyce Gilcrease Knighten "Mama Joyce" was born March 2, 1941 in DeBerry, Texas. She passed away suddenly at the age of 78. Mama Joyce touched many lives before she went home to meet her Lord and Savior on December 27, 2019. Mama Joyce was proceeded in death by her parents Arnold and Claudia Gilcrease and son Jack Herbert Doughty. Left to cherish her memory, her husband of 42 years, Jay Knighten, six children, Ricky Doughty and wife Suzanne, Dickie Doughty and wife Melanie, Diane Buseick and husband Steve, Connie Malone and husband Bill, Stewart Knighten and wife Terry, Chris Ebarb and husband Howard Jr. , 19 grandchildren Carol, Shannon D., Jeff, Brandi, Shannon G., Adam, Bret, Brad, Kyndal, Clay, Luke, Cody, Jayson, Michael, Jennifer, Jackson, Jesse, Morgan, and Michaela, and 35 great grandchildren, one sister, Billie Jo Davis, two brothers, Claude "Boss" Gilcrease and wife Janice, Jerry Gilcrease and wife Gail. Numerous nieces and nephews who she loved with all of her heart. Mama Joyce as she was lovingly called, was the rock and firm foundation for her family, friends, and church family. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Knighten, Bret Buseick, Brad Buseick, Cody Malone, Jayson Malone, Adam Wilkinson, Jeff Doughty, and Jackson Wiley. Serving as honorary pallbearers grandsons, Clay Malone and Luke Malone, and two of her cherished nephews, Claude (Bubba) Gilcrease and Marvin Gilcrease. In lieu of flowers the family of Mama Joyce is asking all donations be made to Pathway to the Cross Church in Greenwood, send donations to Pastor Jerry Steele at the Greenwood Police Department. Visitation to be held at Rose-Neath Southside Chapel, 2500 Southside Drive, Shreveport, Louisiana from 10:00 - 12:00 noon, on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 with the service followed at 12:00 noon. Pastor Jerry Steele will be officiating the service.
