Joy Lynne Bywater

Joy Lynne Bywater, age 65, passed away on January 5, 2026, after a progressive illness. She was born on September 19, 1960.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Joy Bywater and Billy Bywater, and her sister, Brenda Bywater. She is survived by her niece, Heather Mathis.

Joy earned her high school diploma at the age of 16 from Fair Park High School, completing her education ahead of her peers. She began working soon after and was employed with the Office of Conservation, where she spent her working years. Later in life, she volunteered at Shriner's Hospital for Children.

Joy was a member of the South Shreveport Church of Christ.

She had a deep love of music and especially enjoyed listening to The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and The Beatles. She was a private person, but those who knew her well knew her to be witty and quietly humorous, with a sharp mind and a dry sense of humor.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to Joy’s neighbors for their ongoing kindness, care, and watchfulness, and to her devoted caregiver, Shirley Williams, for the compassion and support she provided.

Joy will be remembered by those who knew her for her individuality, intelligence, and the way she revealed herself gently and selectively to the people she trusted.
