Josefa Maria Lucas

Josefa Maria Brenner Lucas passed away on Friday, October 12, 2018 at a local hospital. She was 91. The family will receive friends at Rose-Neath Southside Funeral Home on Thursday, October 18, 2018 from 10-11 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Deacon Steve Sykes officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Park West Cemetery. Mrs. Lucas met her husband, Lawrence M. Lucas, following World War II and on May 5, 1948, they married and moved to the United States. She resided in Shreveport, LA for most of her life before moving to Dothan in 2016. Mrs. Lucas was a cosmetologist for several years until her retirement in the early 1970s. She loved fishing and enjoyed water skiing and snow skiing. Survivors include her husband, Lawrence M. Lucas; her 2 sons, Dan (Cecelia) Lucas and Michael (Lynda) Lucas; her daughter, Juanita (Steve) Sykes; her 7 grandchildren, Dan (Heidi) Lucas, Tim (Ana) Lucas, Michelle (Jordan) Huck, Eric Lucas, Adam (Laura) Lucas, Jason (Alli) Lucas, and Maria Sykes; her 8 great-grandchildren; her brother, Helmut Schmied; and several nieces and nephews.
